Come descriveresti Michael Koller?E’ una domanda difficile. Mi definirei un viaggiatore. Mi piace andare sempre in giro… sono curioso, voglio scoprire nuove cose, nazioni, nuovo cibo e nuove persone.
Parlaci della tua storia di fotografo. Quando hai cominciato a scattare?
Fare foto mi è sempre piaciuto, fin da bambino, ma non l’ho mai fatto in modo professionale. E’ sempre stato solo un hobby, che grazie a Instagram si sta trasformando in una vera passione.
I tuoi scatti sono realizzati con smartphone?
Sì, uso solo il cellulare, sia per scattare che per editare le mie foto.
Nelle tue immagini l’architettura la fa da padrona, anche se l’elemento umano è spesso presente…Adoro ritrarre architetture, ma talvolta quando vuoi mettere in risalto le dimensioni di un edificio è utile avere una persona nell’immagine. La cosa migliore sarebbe andare in giro con amici che si prestino a farti da modelli, come per esempio mia sorella, nell’ultima serie di foto che ho pubblicato.
Secondo te, le persone presenti nelle tue immagini come contribuiscono al successo del tuo stream?
Hmmm, forse lo rendono più dinamico e “personale” di quanto non faccia la sola architettura per qualcuno
I video appaiono raramente nella tua gallery. Secondo te Instagram dovrebbe essere usato solo per condividere foto?
E’ vero. Non ci sono video nella mia gallery, ma non perché non mi piacciano… è solo che per me Instagram è sinonimo di fotografia più che di video, appunto. Ci sono così tante altre piattaforme attraverso cui puoi condividerli… tuttavia chissà, magari un giorno sul mio stream potrebbe apparire anche un video…
Quale pensi che sia il futuro di Instagram?Non so quello che sarà di Instagram, ma a oggi è stato lo strumento che mi ha permesso di conoscere un sacco di gente in ogni parte del mondo
Se dovessi dare 3 suggerimenti per avere successo su Instagram, a cosa pensi che la gente dovrebbe prestare attenzione?
Credo che una delle cose fondamentali sia essere un utente attivo, quindi fare in modo che le proprie foto raccontino una storia, essere creativi in modo che il proprio lavoro sia di ispirazione per gli altri.
Ci sono profili Instagram che secondo te andrebbero assolutamente seguiti?
C’è qualche progetto su cui stai lavorando e di cui puoi già anticiparci qualcosa?
Non è un vero e proprio progetto, ma ho cominciato a prendere contatto con le persone che ritraggo, prima di scattare loro la foto. La loro reazione è stata davvero sorprendente. Alcuni si sono sentiti addirittura lusingati e mi hanno chiesto di ricevere il mio scatto. Questo mi trasmette sensazioni davvero molto positive.

How would you describe Michael Koller?
It´s a tough question. I would say I´m a traveler, I love to be around and be curious about new things, countries, food and people.
Tell us about your story as a photographer: when did you start taking pictures?
Since i was litte I love taking pictures but never did it professional, it was always just a hobby. But with Instagram it starts becoming a passion to me.
Do you use mobile phones to take pictures?Yes, I only use my mobile phones for taking and editing my pictures.
There’s a lot of architecture in your pictures, but the human element is almost always present.
I really love taking pictures of architecture but sometimes when you want to show the dimensions of a building it´s good to have a person in your picture. The best thing is to be around with friends so they can be your model like my sister was in my last pictures.
How do you think the people in your pics do contribute to the success of your stream?
Hmmm. Maybe it becomes more dynamic and personal than architecture itself does for some people.
Videos rarely appear in your gallery. Do you think Instagram should only be about photos?
That´s true! I don´t have any videos in my gallery. It´s not because I don´t like videos, but for me Instagram is more for pictures than for videos. There are so many other platforms you can share your videos but who knows, maybe one time you will find also a video of me on Instagram.
What do you think is the future of this social network?I don´t really know what the future will bring, but I had the chance to meet people all over the world and some of them I can call friends now.
Should you give 3 advices to succeed in Instagram, what would you suggest people should pay attention to?
I think a really important thing is to be an active user, let your pictures tell a story be creative and inspire people with your work.

Is there any other project you’re working at you can give us some hints about?
It´s not a special project but I started getting in contact with the people I was taking a photo of. The reactions of the people have been so cool. Most of them felt really flattered and wanted me to send them the picture. That also gives me a good feeling.
