Non si vergogna pertanto a unire i suoi colorati e allegri origami a scritte secche e decise come “NO”, “fuck”, “black out” o “damn”.

Art is the science of fantasy.

Pino Caruso, I have some thoughts which I don’t agree with, 2009

When you think that art somehow has a limit, it disproves your vision and never ceases to amaze you.

The citation of Caruso seems perfectly to comment the world of the artist about which we are talking today, that personally has contributed in an original way to the evolutions and potentialities of contemporary street art.

It’s Mademoiselle Maurice, twenty-eight French architect, who’s been living in Japan for a year (and this is showed in her own performance). This artist makes herself talked about for her colourful, elegant, soft, floating and proportionate creations based on the magic and old art of origami.

Yes, because Maurice invades cities and French walls with spectacular and three-dimensional visual games of fullness and emptiness, which the artist creates by joining together hundreds of paper origami, in different shapes and colours.

An ode to naif  beauty. But also to the fragility of life.

Her works in fact, if on one hand invade public spaces making them absolutely more beautiful, on the other don’t want to stress this only. On the contrary, her messages are often very intense and full of deep meaning. Therefore she is not ashamed to add her colourful and cheerful origami to short and sharp writings such as “NO”, “fuck”, “black out” or “damn”.

Her being an architect makes combination between human being and nature quite easy to her. Her art melts in a natural way in cities becoming a single thing with them, exactly like a new architecture which is inserted into the surrounding environment, It’s just a way to mull over and ask  questions about life, to face reality and escape from it at the same time.

On Instagram, you can find her as @mademoisellemaurice. She has more than 2400 followers, #mademoisellemaurice tag is rich of 350 media and its gallery is very accurate. With over 1700 posts, this street artist loves sharing her daily life, describing with timely and accurate captions places and actions, and sharing with her public her new works. But she also knows and wants to face sensitive issues such as the battle against cancer, as she did by decorating with small origami the back of a woman, affected by the illness of the century, who only wants to scream her fear, .

Mademoiselle Maurice’s desire of urban art and her patience have no limits. Among the many enterprises pursued, she was able to cover the long stairs that led to the Cathedral of  Montée St-Maurice with 30000 origami. An absolutely incredible visual effect.

It’s true. The beauty- in this case mixed with tenancy – will save the world!
